Thanksgiving in Whistler

This Thanksgiving long-weekend we headed back to my motherland – Canada. To get there we drove an hour and 40 minutes from Vancouver which is one of my favorite drives along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. Once we arrived, we spent the weekend with our family friends in a VRBO just outside of Whistler village. Most houses are typically just outside the village and I would highly recommend renting one if you have enough people. If you do it’s easy enough to get in and out of the village with the free shuttle service provided by BC Transit. I have also stayed at the Cascade Lodge and the Delta over MLK weekend which is better for smaller groups.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to Ski this time due to an injury but there were plenty of other snow related activities to take part in. On the Thursday for Thanksgiving we went on a hike (more of a nature walk) to Lost Lake before we stuffed our faces. I have also gone Snow Tubing with my roomates where you are able to ride the gondola up peak to peak and see the mountains.

The next day, while my family friends were skiing and snowboarding, my Mom and I headed into the village to do some shopping and then to watch the Apple Cup at Longhorns Saloon. I recommend watching any sporting event here as it gets pretty rowdy and they have an outdoor area all year round with fireplaces and TV’s. As for other great places to go out in Whistler, I recommend Crystal Lounge, Tommy Africas, Buffalo Bills and Garfinkel’s.
